"Customer Match" A Step By Step Guide

As explained in our previous article, Google's "Customer Match" allows the use customer emails to specifically target or re-market users through Search, Gmail & YouTube.This article is a step by step guide to creating Google Customer Match lists in AdWords.You will need:

  • An active AdWords account
  • Users email addresses file
  • File in .csv format
  • One column - One email per line
  • File maximum size is 25 MB - or around 900,000 email addresses
  • An email opt out link

Step 1In your AdWords Interface > Shared Library

click on shared library

Step 2In Shared Library > Select Audiences

Click on view under audience

Step 3In Audiences > + Remarketing List > Customer Emails

Click remarketing list and choose customer emails

Step 4Fill the details

  • Enter a name which describe best the type of emails you upload
  • Chose the .csv file from your computer
  • Enter "Email Opt Out" URL
  • Choose Membership duration (Max. 180 days) - This is how long the list will remain active
  • Upload & Save

Note : You always have the possibility to upload more emails into the same list without creating a new one after the list is created.

Customer Match : Fill in the form name, upload file, email opt out & membership duration before saving
