How to export more than 500 rows in Google Analytics

June 4, 2011

When working in Google Analytics and trying to export more than 500 you face a problem where you cant export more than 500 rows of data. This is a problem for user with no access to Google Analytics tools for keyword expansion. A quick and easy way around this is by changing the URL. This is very useful if you want to export for example a large number of non-paid keywords and adding them to your PPC campaigns. If you have thousands of rows that require multiple exports, you can use the convenient workaround below to export all your rows in one go.

  1. Navigate to keyword report
  2. Change the query parameter 'limit' to the url, and hit enter to reload the report. For example: https://www.google.com/analytics/reporting/keywords?.................&limit=5000
  3. Hit 'Enter' and confirm that the report now has the new parameter appended to it. Please note there will not be any visible difference in user interface.
  4. Select the Export tab, and click 'CSV' (remember not the option that says 'CSV for Excel').
  5. The exported CSV should now contain all the rows from your keywords table.

This should give you 5000 rows of data in the CSV file.
